(What. The. Hell.
The first thing anyone tuning will see is Dante fiddling with his pokegear, unsure of exactly how to get it to work. He doesn't realize that he actually turned on the video feed, but tosses it over to a green scythed pokemon who fumbles about with it before actually being able to hold it...somehow.
And with the camera following Dante, anyone will see that, while speaking pretty calmly, this guy is pissed off. Kicking the door to Elm's lab open [which didn't get flung off of their hinges, making Dante even more upset], this guy proceeds to antagonize Elm and all of the scientists in there.)
Who the hell taught you guys how to throw a party? Bringing your guests over and stealing all of their shit? You do realize that means I have to kick all of your asses, right?
(And of course, squishy scientists can't fight back, but Dante knows better than to attack them outright. Still, he's punching things and flipping tables to help relieve his anger while his scyther can only watch from a distance. Scary man can be scary.)
So where the hell's all my stuff? Tell me now and I'll make sure to leave you enough teeth to chew.

Date: 2012-04-24 03:23 pm (UTC)And how isn't it so bad? This place is filled with creepy, wide-eyed animals who keep following people.
"Scyther!"
(So says the cameramon to emphasize the point. It's enough to make Dante facepalm.)

Date: 2012-04-24 04:14 pm (UTC)It's following you because you're its trainer. These creatures are known as "Pokémon," and they're the only means of defending yourself here, so I'd take good care of that Scyther and train it. Pokémon learn more attacks as they level up, and some will even evolve into a new Pokémon. Scyther in particular can evolve by trading it while holding the Metal Coat item, which you can purchase in Goldenrod City.
And of course, you can also capture any wild Pokémon that catch your eye with the use of Poké Balls. Unfortunately, the Pokémon in that area are... subpar, at best, so if you want to get a good start on building up a powerful team, I'd recommend placing an order with the Breeding Center, run by Souji Seta. They have all sorts of fantastic Pokémon eggs you can choose from, and since you're a newcomer, you can get your first egg for free with a few exceptions, so I'd take advantage of that deal while you still can.
[Why yes, Clive is just a gold mine of information.]

So I'm its trainer, huh...? Alright...I guess I could get used to that. And then build up an army of miniature badasses to follow me around...so maybe this won't be as bad as my usual visits to Vegas.
But there's one thing I don't get: trading it away to evolve it? As in giving it up? I'm not seeing how trading something away makes it stronger.

Date: 2012-04-24 07:03 pm (UTC)As for the trading thing, I don't quite understand the mechanics behind it, either, but that's how it works. Once you give it to the other person, it will evolve, and then all you have to do is get it back from them. Of course, there are people out there who may decide to keep it for themselves, so it's safest to do it with a friend.

These things are just full of surprises, aren't they? Next thing you know, they'll probably be able to evolve by kicking rocks.
Date: 2012-04-25 12:45 am (UTC)And I haven't heard of a Pokémon like that, but I honestly wouldn't be that surprised if there was one out there somewhere.
[He pauses for a moment. Clive is feeling generous right now, and he does like being on people's good side...]
You know, if you're eager to get your Scyther to evolve, I can hook you up with a Metal Coat. I'm in Goldenrod right now, so it'll only take me a few minutes to get, and Goldenrod is incredibly far away from where you are now. It usually takes people months to get here. As for how to get it to you in a timely manner, I can send it to you via the PC system.

Date: 2012-04-25 01:46 am (UTC)Sounds sweet. You sure there isn't some shit about waiting until later on before pushing him to the next level? Kinda like cooking: you move too quickly and you get half-baked pizza. Half cooked pizza sucks, man.
Date: 2012-04-25 01:59 am (UTC)However, I don't believe there's a PC in New Bark Town, so you'll have to head over to the next town, Cherrygrove. Once you get there, just head into the building with the red roof and you'll find a PC in there.
Oh, and I'll need your name so I know who I'm sending it to.
Date: 2012-04-25 02:33 am (UTC)The name's Dante. Mind if I ask who'll be sending this to me? And how much I'll owe you?
